The Origin
OCOVES began as a college research project by Ethan McQuarrie, a student entrepreneur at the University of Utah. While studying men’s grooming and skincare habits, Ethan uncovered a flaw in the industry: traditional colognes often dry out the skin, leave behind synthetic scents, and ignore the actual needs of everyday men.
Motivated to create something better, he developed a product that combined subtle, natural fragrance with real skincare benefits. What followed was the launch of the world’s first hydrating men’s cologne, powered by natural ingredients.
Built to Compete
OCOVES was built from the ground up by a full-time student balancing school, business, and competition. It quickly gained traction and national recognition through some of the most prestigious collegiate entrepreneurship competitions:
- 2025 DECA International Champion – Entrepreneurship Event
- Top Finalist – Utah Entrepreneurship Challenge
- Winner – 2024 SLCC Shark Tank Pitch Competition
- 2x Recipient – GetSeeded Grant Funding
